Connections with route 32 approved by the Costa Rian Government Advances Mega Project of $400 Million.
The construction of the City Caribe Casino would begin, a tourist megaproject of $400 million that is being built in Limon and that already has the approval of hte construction permits for one of its main works and is currently offered @ $37M at Hypress Global Maketing PC.
The cardinal structure of the project, the Royal Tortuguero Resort Casino Hotel, has permits for the construction of its first stage of 60 rooms, a clubhouse and a casino. The earth movement is expected to begin next March, while a new 28-kilometer route between Limón and Matina is being built that will have a connection to the hotel.
The expectation is also to generate a temporary trunk from route 32 that allows machinery to enter the hotel grounds, said Patti Rao, architect in charge of the project. "André Garnier, Minister of Coordination with the private sector, was quite impressed with the project, for the jobs that will be created, for increasing tourism infrastructure in the area, and meeting the demand for housing and entertainment," Rao added.
The City Caribe Casino will be located in the northern area of Moín, at the entrance to the Tortuguero Canal and will be in charge of Patti Rao Projects, a developer headed by the renowned Vancouver architect who gives the company its name.
The complex includes three hotels with 264 rooms, three casinos and 219 apartments. Likewise, the construction of two convention and culture centers is planned, one for 60 people and the other for 150, as well as a wellness center, an entertainment complex, a business center and secondary recreational support facilities in the green areas. The construction will have a helipad, a marina and access to the beach. In its construction stage it will generate about 150 jobs, a figure that would rise to 1,500 once the works are finished.
Rao chose Limón as the destination of the megaproject because of its little exploited tourism potential and the interest of its partners to invest in ecotourism projects related to the characteristics offered by Tortuguero.
